Meet the Pastor
Meet Pastor Jay Cousino
I was born in Detroit and lived in the North East until finally settling in Gainesville Florida, where I lived most of my life, graduating from the University of Florida. My Eighth grade year proved the defining moment of my life. It was during a retreat that I asked Christ into my life. I became more involved with my church (Trinity UMC). During my High School years I played football, basketball, and was active with other school activities.
I started a company my freshman year “Genesis Graphics” and decided to make it a career after graduation while adding one more company “Coupon Cash” to my portfolio. A year after graduation I felt God gently nudging me back to church and thus began my volunteer work with youth at my church. After about five years of dedicated volunteer youth work, God stopped calling and started yanking me into professional ministry. I went to Asbury Theological Seminary, got married to Lori, had a son – Noah, and graduated in 1999. While in Dallas we were blessed with our daughter Sophia Grace and have enjoyed living the last fifteen years here. The first two years I worked at Highland Park UMC. I then worked another twelve years at St Andrew United Methodist Church. And I now work at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church for the last (almost) two years.
Lori and I have been married for seventeen years. Both of our families live in Florida. Lori’s mother, father, and two brothers live in Jacksonville. My mother and step-father live in Gainesville, my brother lives in Orlando and my father lives in Chicago. Lori is a fourth grade teacher at Wesley Prep elementary. Our daughter, Sophia, and our son, Noah, are going into the seventh and tenth grade respectively. I coach my daughter’s basketball team and regularly volunteer at Wesley Prep. I enjoy remodeling, working in the yard – not as much as I used to -, and Gator football (until recently – because you cannot call what Florida plays as “Football”). I still try to play basketball and exercise (key word is “try”). Our family loves the outdoors – well I love the outdoors and my family comes along – sometimes. Lori and I open our home for ministry such as bible study, covenant groups, Sunday lunches, youth group pool parties, and staff dinners. We currently reside in Plano.
